Connecting via ADSL to the Technion network

The Taub Computer Center provides Internet and local access services using the ADSL ("WOW" for Bezeq) technology

This technology enables fast access rates for sites with rich content, multimedia and the ability to watch video lectures from home

To benefit from this technology one must first install an ADSL line at home. Ordering an ADSL line can be done in a Bezeq store, or by calling 199

ADSL services are provided to all campus members - staff, students, adjacent, etc

This service is for academic activities and as such, the client is part of the internal Technion network, protected by the Fire Wall and the Anti Virus system and all restrictions that apply at the Technion according to the Fire Wall policy such as blocking connections from the Internet to the client machine, blocking of P2P software like emule and IRC networks apply here as well.

Client network activities are monitored and logged for data security purposes

Research members of the Technion can finance the ADSL costs from research budgets in Mosad Ha-Technion. All details and forms are available in this site. ADSL service cost is the equivalent of $5 in nis, per month chargeable 6 month in advance. In case of discontinuation of the service a proportional  refund will be granted

In addition, one has to purchase a Password Generator, product of RSA that is used for identification during the initial session creation. The generator costs $35 in nis and has a warranty of 4.5 years. It can not be returned after 30 days and no refunds are available. Client who have purchased an older generation generator, TeleID will continue to receive service for it according to the then applicable terms
