Sections and activities at the Computer Center
The Computer Center is composed of few sections and professional groups to meet the needs of our various campus clients.
UNIX Group
The Unix group deals with a variety of development issues, software installation and maintenance in Unix and Linux operating systems of central servers, support of remote workstations and workstations hosted at the Computer Center. Staff members of the group provide backup and restore services and the management of central data storage systems. In addition, the group manages e-mail and Internet servers and computer accounts on central servers.
User Support Group
Computer Center consultants support students of the graduate school and faculty, with computer issues related to teaching and research, and provide personal consulting through the phone, via e-mail or face to face for a large number of scientific software packages. On line help and guides are written and available in central servers.
Personal Computing Group
PCG supports all campus sectors in using, consulting and problem resolving of personal computers related issues.
Administration Group
The administration group deals with the administrative tasks related to the Computer Center tasks such as Purchase orders, Payments for software, Insurance of computing equipment, and supports other groups activities.
Visualisation & HPC
The Visualization center provides faculty members with sophisticated visualization tools to display their computing results. Advanced consulting is provided in this area and for producing of video and presentations which are web enabled.
IBM systems Group
IBM systems group performs various tasks including systems monitoring, first line support, printing services and more.
Communication Group
The communication group develops, manages and monitors the activity of the campus network.It also provides access services to the campus network from home and the student dormitories.
